Wayfinding is a succession of navigation clues comprising visual, audible and tactile elements. Wayfinding exists in many s cales and environments. It navigates users through a city or within facilities such as an airport, calls attention to a storefront, or provides information about an exhibit.

Some people think that wayfinding is about signage, but it also encompasses architecture, lighting, landscape and landmarks. An effective wayfinding system communicates information clearly and concisely, helps users experience the environment in a positive way, and facilitates them in getting from one place to another.
